Innovation through Technology

Tablet PCs enable Saint Mary's School faculty to approach traditional classroom exercises with an innovative twist. For example, instead of sketching a costume design for dance class using a pen and paper, students can use graphical software and the tablet's stylus to quickly create, review and modify images.

SUCCESS STORY

Samsula Elementary School

In the early 1900s, Samsula Elementary School was a one-room schoolhouse, heated by a wood-burning stove. In 2004, with 30 teachers and administrators and 250 students, this rural school in New Smyrna Beach, Florida is on the cutting edge of technology and is pioneering models for how to effectively integrate technology and visual learning into the classroom.
